In 1980, I decided I needed to change career paths. I went back to college and studied computer science and accounting. I then got a job at BPI doing quality control for accounting software. I worked there for 2 years and then was offered a higher paying job at a company called Orchid Software. After 8 months I was offered a similar job at Execucom with more pay.
In 1984, my husband and I decided we wanted a child. I was laid off at Execucom one month before my baby was due. I believe for being pregnant. My reviews had been excellent and therefore I was blind sighted when I was asked to pack a cardboard box with my stuff and was escorted to my car.
I decided to be a stay at home mom. I had Alex and then Adam. I volunteered at Highland Park Elementary school and taught their computer camps.
Life was good, but I didn’t feel challenged.
